Is there a way to set the default surface for feature lines in a drawing?

I only have one surface in my drawing - the existing grade.  When I assign elevations to my feature lines I always have to specify the surface I want to use.  Since there is only one surface in my drawing is there a way to tell CAD to use that surface once and not have to tell it every time?  I've looked in the settings tab in the toolspace, but am either missing it or it's somewhere else or I can't do that.

You can't do that. It would make far too much sense to use the only available surface when just one exists, however, C3D doesn't think like that for this command. Oddly, some commands DO realize when there is only one expected object type and works as expected.

Thanks Jeff.  I was hoping that wasn't the case.
