Is there a limit to nested pasted surfaces?

Is there a limit to nested pasted surfaces?

I have "Surface 0" which I paste into a new surface with another surface to create "Surface 1". I then paste "Surface 1" into a new surface with another surface to create "Surface 2". I then paste "Surface 2" into a new surface with another surface to create "Surface 3". etc...

It seems to stop working after 4 "nests". "Surface corrupt...run recover", or "Could not open referenced surface for surface" error.

I don't know what else would cause these errors. Boundaries are fine, surfaces are all fine by themselves.

I've never heard of a limit but, there could be.

Perhaps test it with some very simple surfaces and see if you get the same result.

I stopped at ten nested surfaces (top plus nine) with no errors. Admittedly, my surfaces were made from a single rectangle, but the point was to see if there is a limit to how many nestings you can do. The answer is, "At least ten."

It's probably something else then...I'll keep digging.

I could be wrong, and or interperting your work flow incorrectly, but your description of "nesting" pasted surfaces sounds like you may be inadvertantly creating circular referencing. Not that I know that this can cause a problem but if you did the same with xrefs you would probably end up with a real mess.
I personally would make <NewSurface> and paste Surface0 through surface(n). You are specific about Surface(n) but what is "another surface" which you paste into each iteration.
