Is it possible to shade / render blocks used in point styles?

I've defined a point style to use a block which contains a 3-D object, in this case a simple cylinder.

However the points using this style, will not appear shaded / realistic, they always appear as a wireframe, even though the original block use in the point style Is displayed correctly if inserted separately.

Is this a limitation of points styles or is there a setting somewhere?

Thanks

Works fine for me. Be sure on the display tab of the point style editor that you change to Model view direction and turn on the marker.

As I mentioned, the points are drawn but only as a wireframe, they are not rendered. In the image below you will see the point on the left and an inserted block which is used to define the point on the right. Notice the display mode is realistic, but the point is still displayed as wireframed

What version did you say you're using? I tested in 2014.

What if you try Conceptual? Does that display correctly? Maybe your Realistic visual style got hosed.

It's 2014, the point displays as wireframe in all modes.

The visual styles are fine as they work for everything else.

I was just prototyping an idea, it looks like I will need to do it another way.

Thanks

Your friends here would appreciate your posting the details. For what it's worth, I created a cylinder using the cylinder command and it render fine. What were you doing differently?
