Is 2015 production ready?

I read the 13 pages of the ongoing thread of Bugs and Issues, and I'll be honest many of the issues either do not pertain to my type of work or didnot seem like a game changer i.e. "cant copy layout tabs with ctrl kek and dragging". etc.

Surely many of these reported issues upset other's work flows, and have to be dealt with.

What I did not gleen from the B&I thread was: is 2015 production ready?

"If you aren't using the survey side of things or point clouds, then perhaps it'll be OK for you"

Hang on, back up a minute... what's going wrong with Point Clouds in 2015?

There was a problem in creating surfaces from AutoCAD point clouds. Specifically in the workflow of importing an AutoCAD point cloud from a ReCap file. This has been fixed in the Civil 3D Productivity Tools - AutodeskPoint Cloud Surface Extraction. You can download them from the Subscription Site.

I don't know of anything else at the moment.

you can also "export" pipes from SSA as an .STM file. You don't have to rely on LandXML. In fact, most places prefer that so that they can validate in either SSA or in Storm Sewers.

Thanks Allen - doesn't look like it will affect my workflow then.

I am confused, we always brought aerial images into versions 2010 and onward.  Then raster manager came out with 2014, so what changed with 2015?  Or is this a reference to the fact a person can bring in maps from online sources like bing (I suppose I should give microsoft credit for their bing copyright and for their microsoft copyright)?

Oh, forgot to mention the bug with LandXML imports of pipe networks. If you use LandXML to bring a pipe network into 2015 (I think 2014, also) there's a bug where the pipes won't come in at all if a custom part catalog is used. This wrecks havok if you're using something like SSA that exports the pipe network as LandXML.

I've actually had issues with importing LandXML pipe networks since the 2012 version.

Yes, I am referring to the built-in Bing Maps connection. It was present in 2014, but in 2015 you can print the map.
