Nope, and that can be done with this regedit (for LDT2005 anyway)

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R16.1\ACAD-308:409\AdLM]

TravisNave has also posted about this in the autodesk.networking newsgroup.
It's a one-off change, forces the system to look to a license server instead
of the local C: drive for the license file. The users we changed also
needed to add the IP address of the license server to their HOSTS file on
the home computer. If you didn't modify the HOSTS file, then LDT would stop
and ask for the IP address of the license server one time.
FWIW, you don't have to join the home computer into the domain to install.
As long as you have read-access to the install folder the install will run
OK. On our systems, the home machines are typically in a workgroup called
WORKGROUP, but when connected to our domain only ask for a username and
password when you browse to a domain resource.

I thought about that. It causes a bit of a logistics problem for hooking
into the network. I really don't want to have to join the home computer to
the domain. (he VPN we use is hard to explain---provided by Watchguard
firewall, they call it a MUVPN --Mobile User VPN) . I'll have to think
that one over some more. It might work for us.
The home use license would be great, but we have more people than licenses.
It seems to me you should be able to install a standalone without a license,
and then convert it to a network licence by pointing to the server. Am I
crazy?

What we do is have the user bring their computer in to the office for the
initial install. Way easier than trying to run 4GB over a dsl line.

We have a license server at work. I would like to be able to use Civil 3-d
at home. I already have my home computer VPN'd into our network. So all I
really have to do is run the install image from the network. But over the
internet, it takes MANY hours (even on DSL) and all it takes is for the
internet to hang and the VPN gets interupted and the whole process freezes
up.
Is there a way to install from the DVD on my home machine and then point it
to the network for licenses?
Is there a way to install from the CD and then check out licenes to a memory
stick to carry home?
Any help is appreciated.
