Importing shape files in 2013

How can I import an ESRI shape file in 2013?  Are the map commands no longer available?

The easiest way is just drag and drop the SHP file into the AutoCAD/C3D editor.

The MAP functionality is still there if you want to navigate the menus and/or use the old legacy commands. Switch your workspace to "Planning and Analysis".

Did you just try _MAPIMPORT or _MAPIMPORT4  or _MAPCONNECT ?

The mapimport worked.  I was trying that before and kept getting a fatal error so I'm not sure what changed.  Thanks

How do you go about dragging it into the editor?

The shp file can be dragged from Windows Explorer directly onto the drawing window.

Well done, J.
I guess this D&D technique yields a _MAPCONNECTed shape, isn't it..?
