Importing *.csv file with Lat/Lon/Elevation points into AutoCAD Civil 3d

I have a csv file that has lat/lon/elevation points from a gps so a file entry would look like:
34.123412,-118.1234,1023.1234
How would I import this into Civil3d? The projection is wgs-84.

Thanks in advance..
Hi,

Oops, I accidentally zipped a whole folder of files. Please don't
bother with the previous zip file and use this one.

If the Administrator can remove the zip file from the other post it
would be useful to do so.

Hi robertscott5419,

You need to create a definition file to describe the data in your file.

The attached screen grabs show the process.

Open the Create point Toolbar and click on the right hand end Icon to
start the import file process

In the Import Points select the icon besdie the format pull down to open
the Point file formats where you click on New
Select a format type of "Use point file" and then OK
Select the < unused > column header and then select form the data type
to be found in that column. Repeat for each column i your data file.

You can choose "Load" and "Parse" options to see how your definition
will cause the file to be parsed.

Fill out the other details and choose OK.

Laurie Comerford

ps Sorry I had to zip the screen grabs, but the incompetents who would
have allowed me to post this information as a 3Mb BMP file won't allow
three separate file to load.

I tried to use the import points button to import the points. I defined my file format as DECDEG Lat, DECDEG Lon, and point elevation then the loaded my file and tried to parse it which worked ok. You can see this in the screenshots I attached. Then I hit ok and returned to the import points dialog. I selected the format I just defined and entered in my file path and selected the group I wanted my points to go into. But when I hit ok AutoCAD said "No Points were transfered from the source" and I don't have any points in my group.

Thanks,

Jen

I know this is 4 years later but holy cow your screen shots just seriously helped me out SO MUCH.  I was in a crunch to do this exact thing at work and had never done it before.  Thank you so much for being thorough and including screen shots.
