Hi robertscott5419,
You need to create a definition file to describe the data in your file.
The attached screen grabs show the process.
Open the Create point Toolbar and click on the right hand end Icon to
start the import file process
In the Import Points select the icon besdie the format pull down to open
the Point file formats where you click on New
Select a format type of "Use point file" and then OK
Select the < unused > column header and then select form the data type
to be found in that column. Repeat for each column i your data file.
You can choose "Load" and "Parse" options to see how your definition
will cause the file to be parsed.
Fill out the other details and choose OK.
Regards,
Laurie Comerford
ps Sorry I had to zip the screen grabs, but the incompetents who would
have allowed me to post this information as a 3Mb BMP file won't allow
three separate file to load.

I know this is 4 years later but holy cow your screen shots just seriously helped me out SO MUCH. I was in a crunch to do this exact thing at work and had never done it before. Thank you so much for being thorough and including screen shots.
Laurie was a great resource on these boards.
