Importing a .dem

Greetings,

I have a .dem file in state plane coordinates. I would like to import that into a local coordinate system. I set up the relation between the local coordinate system and state plane in the "Transformation" tab on the "Settings" menu, but when I bring in the .dem, it still comes in on state plane. Is there some way to import the .dem and have it come in on the local coordinate grid?

Well, I think there's no worst idea than destroying the inner, priceless georeference of a DEM file...

You shouldn't make any transformation to other SRS, as a matter of fact, so my advice is:

1] load normally the DEM file (I use _CREATESURFACEGRIDFROMDEM)

2] issue the _ADESETCRDSYS command, and choose the natural SRS of that DEM

3] draw everything you need

4] detach the DEM

5] _ALIGN the drawn vectors to your local SRS, or perform a spatial query.
