import map from arccad to civil 3d and it is looking for a .sif file

we are importing  shape files from arcad to civil 3d 2014 and c3d is asking for a .sif file as well. 

any ideas would be greatly appreciated

Are you using the mapimport command? For Shp files all you need are the .shp, shx, and .dbf files. The .prj file is nice to have if you want to georeference the features.

Yes we have those files but the contour lines are flat the elevation field is populated correctly by the lines have no elevation

If you want a surface from those contour lines try using "Create Surface from GIS Data

The surface works but it is flat and at elevation.0. It needs to be in 3d

Does the shp file contain the elevation in its data and are you selecting that field on the create surface?
