Image issues C3D vs Land Desktop

Please see the attached image captures. In LDD 2009, the file has strips of image that are offset from one another. In Civil 3D (I used 2010 in this case, but it's the same all the way up to 2014) the image looks correct. We even tried it in LDD 2006 and it works fine. It's only LDD 2009 that messes it up.

I am cross-posting this from the LDD group because no one seems to hang out there any more. There are only two posts in April. I know many of you in this group are long-tme LDD users, so....

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Tim

Would this happen to be a .sid file?

How was the image brought in? Via AutoCAD xref? Via Map Image Insert? Via FDO? Via Raster Design?

If you post up the image and drawing, I'll do some testing on my system.

I remember seeing this problem several years ago.  I think it was in C3D 2007 or '08.

I've seen this as well in LDD08, sometimes I could resolve the issue by unloading and reloading the image but it didnt always work. I even had an instance were I gave my 08 drawing to someone using 09 and it loaded fine.

I sure youv'e probably already tried the unload reload, but thats my only suggestion, and the only way I could resolve it.

The image file is 118mb, too big to post here. If anyone is willing to take a look, contact me direclty, tcorey@shasta.com, and I will email a yousendit link.

Thanks!

Tim

To answer Todd, the file is a TIF.

Just to rule out the standard responses, have all of the Service Packs been applied to the LDD install?

Have you tried bumping up the RASTERPERCENT & RASTERTHRESHOLD system variables? It's been so long since i touched LDD, I'm not sure if this will make much difference but i want to say i remember something about these helping..

From help file:

"RASTERPERCENT Sets the maximum percentage of available virtual memory that is allowed for plotting a raster image."

RASTERTHRESHOLD "Specifies a raster threshold in megabytes. If the plotted raster image exceeds this threshold, the availability of system memory is checked. The plot is aborted if the image is too big for the available memory."

Yep, service pack is up to date,

Rasterpercent and RasterThreshold do not help.

Odd issue.

I'm getting the same issues in both Civil 3D 2009 as well as LDT 2009 so it isn't just your system (and I installed SP2.1 for LDT). I got the same results using MAPIINSERT, AutoCAD XREF, and FDO (had some error messages when using MAPIINSERT).

Sorry I didn't have better news.

Thanks, Brian.

I'm gonna install Raster Design 2009 and see if we get better results.

To all who took a look at this issue,  and especially to Brian, thanks for your effort. It is always appreciated.

We "solved" the problem by using Raster Design 2013 to Saveas an uncompressed TIF image. LDD 2009 was able to insert and view that file correctly.

Best regards,

Tim
