How to make contour 3d civil concepts??

I would like to make a thesis about software civil 3d, the concept of how to make contour, if the result is close to the original surface these results affect the accuracy of the data because in indonesia does not yet exist that discuss this. How to make contour 3d civil concept?? do you have a solution guys???,, please help me
