How to join ploylines

Hello,

I currently have a long polyline made of many curves and lines which is about a mile long. I know how to hook this up by clicking on every segment and place the join command but this is takes a long time. Is there a easier way to do this?

Thanks

Hi

I suggest looking up the help menu in AutoCAD for 'select objects' or doing an internet search. Here is the first hit I found which should cover some things that could help you.

http://www.mycadsite.com/tutorials/level_1/selection-sets-in-AutoCAD.htm

Also I find using the SELECTSIMILAR and the ISOLATEOBJECTS command useful to select only what want.

Hi,

you can use command _PEDIT with the first option "Multiple" ==> than you can select all segments with window or crossing-window selection and use option _JOIN.

Another option might be command _MAPCLEAN, more complex but also more powerful.

I use the Crossing window and Join method.....but the end level of preceding line must be the same as the start level of the next line or the command will fail.

I prefer MAPCLEAN with "Dissolve pseudo-nodes" option, but if I'm in a hurry, I use PEDIT=>ALL=>JOIN, fast and safe.

.....but need to be aware of any "cross linking" polylines that may cause the JOIN to form the new joined polys in a weird way...;)

Good point, N: when you have crossing lines, it's mandatory to run Mapclean indeed.
