How Do You Label a Just a Segment of an Alignment

How do you label just a segment of an alignment w/o labeling the entire line?

in the add label box set the label type to single segment not multiple.

Didn't work..... labels the entire line segment. I think I figured it out... you have to insert a PI on the alignment so that the label is forced to label the segment in lieu of the entire line.

in Civil 3D 2009 if you have a polyline and you try to label it you will get the bearing but the distance is the whole line

Make sure the feature label is set to alignment and not line and curve
it works for me

What about when you have a situation where you want to label a portion of the centerline... say where an intersecting alignment occurs and you want to label the segment either side of the PI? Would you then just insert a PI at that location so that it recognizes the two segements?

If you want a partial distance you would need to create a PI point along the line segment. If you want the entire segment but limited to a portion of the alignment there are controls in alignment labels dialog to control start and end station for a specific label type.

you can specify the station beginning and station end of your alignment labels.
