I've read that this can be caused by a full server but I've gotten it when that wasn't the case. I thought it might be connected with Raster Design. In 2009 Autodesk told me it was a fault in the Audit command and it would be fixed in 2010. See:

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/AutoCAD-2007-2008-2009/One-or-more-objects-in-this-drawing-cannot-be-s...

IIRC the only way to save is to close the drawing and say Yes when asked if you want to save.

It's not uncommon to see this when your temp folder is overfull.

In your Windows Explorer address bar, type %temp% and hit enter. This takes you to the temp folder. Delete everything that will delete.

Does that help?

Thanks for the replies - I couldn't try Audit as C3D crashed and my tmp folder was not too full but I always empty it after the inevitable crashes (once or twice a day usually...!!!

I think the problem may have been due to a problematic subassembly created in SAC on another machine and not being available on this particular PC.
