I found it. There is a button to toggle it off in the Ribbon/Toolspace
panel.

Neil,
If you have a chance, do you have a screen capture - I don't see that toggle.
Curious...

Thanks

Oops. I just realized I said it was 2010 in my post. Sorry about that.

I am finding that this is happening fairly often, and I have to toggle the Settings or Prospector buttons on the Palettes Panel. Guess we'll wait for SP1 :-).

Thanks Neil,
That makes sense - I hadn't checked 2011

Are you saying the toggle is switching off without user interaction? That
may be what happened to me but I can't say. I may have pushed a mouse button
without realizing it was focused on the Settings toggle.

I ran into this almost immediately after installing the 2011 release. I was actually surprised it took so long to see a post about it.

I haven't figured it out, either, but the Prospector and Settings tabs regularly disappear on me, too. Hitting one of the buttons in the Ribbon a couple of times brings them back. It mostly just seems to be annoying, but is definitely one reason we won't be moving to 2011 until at least after the first service pack.

Add this to the list of fixes for 2012!!!! Here we go again.... I end up just cycling back to the current workspace to get my missing tabs back on my toolspace box.

All I did was hit the toggle to turn it back on. I don't understand the
posts about hitting ribbon buttons several times or cycling through
workspaces. Doesn't the toggle work for everyone?

I usually have to hit it twice, because according to the button, it's still on. I hit the button once to turn it off, then when I hit it again, it reappears normally.

Maybe it depends on which button you hit...? Each of the Toolspace tabs have one, and then I think there's one for the overall Toolspace... (I don't have 2011 on this computer to look.)

The button I used was on the Ribbon/Toolspace panel. I have not had this
behavior more than once so I don't know if the ribbon button works any
better than any of the other toggle buttons, wherever they happen to be.

Several of the Toolspace tabs dissappear randomly. Changing workspaces is one of several solutions. Selecting the Toolspace button requires two clicks instead of one so I call up my saved workspace. This is just one solution.

Type Settings in the Command line and it will re-appear.

Better late than never. 4-1/2 years. How did you find that ancient thread?

My settings tab on Toolspace disappeared today and google it.  Then decided to just type settings in the command line.  And boom, magic happened.   Some people may say it was lucky, I say I'm just smart like that.  LOL.

Then thought I share incase someone else googles it.

Have a good night.

You can also find the toggle buttons on the home tab of the ribbon, Palettes Panel, the wrenches.
