I've copied some linework from a co-workers's project that was done in 09 LDD Companion into my C3D 2010 and at first, the gravel hatch pattern looks normal. However, after I removed some boundaries, it changed to a bunch of little lines (see attached image - original pattern is on the right, "updated" is on the left). When I go to the hatch pattern list (in the hatch edit window), the thumbnail shows the pattern how it looked originally (i.e. correctly), so what's causing it to change?
Is this a 09 Companion to C3D thing, or maybe a system variable?
Thanks

Sounds like you changed the Hatch origin during your edits.
If you're working in a drawing with large coordinates (e.g. State Plane, UTM), then hatch patterns can look funky. You can fix the problem by moving the Hatch origin closer to your jobsite.
On such jobs, I usually set HPORIGIN to a point near the center of my job prior to creating any hatches.
Hello,
I have seen this issue happening if hatch origin is far away from 0,0. See if you can get into hatch settings and specify the hatch origin to be inside of the hatch area. (Found in "hatch and gradient" dialog, Hatch tab). I hope this helps.
We are working with State Plane, and when I transferred the linework over, I copied at 0,0,0 and pasted at 0,0,0. The linework came in right where it was supposed to, so that tells me that the hatch origin didn't change from the 09 companion file to the c3d 2010.
I'll try setting the HPORIGIN to the center of project in the original job, then copy things over, and let you know how that works.
I changed the hporigin to the approximate middle of hatches (between them) on both drawings, then did a Copy with Base Point and got the same results. Then I realized I could just use the boundaries that I had copied over and recreate the hatch within C3D. That worked fine.
HPORIGIN was the answer. Thanks to you both!
Ka-ciao! 😃
Some other options:
You can also change the HP origin for existing hatches in the Hatch Editor. MATCHPROPS works, too, although it matches everything, and not just the origin. If you have a lot of hatches, another option is to just select them all, then change the "Origin X" and "Origin Y" values in the Properties palette.
You can also select a hatch or multiple hatches, right-click and select "Set Origin" from the menu. This is how I set the origin for multiple hatch patterns at one time.
