Figure lines

If I want all my line work to come in at 0.00 but I'm selecting use as breakline is the true elevation of the the figure line going to be used to create my surface or will civil 3d just see the line at 0.00?
Guess I should just go test it out shouldnt I...
The problem is when the designer is snapping to one of the figure lines at an elevation then snapping to one of his lines at 0.00, well you can imagine.

I will use the true value regardless of your style settings.

Perfect. I was just getting curious because several people had been asking about flattening figure lines so I couldn't understand why they wouldn't just bring them in at 0 if that was the case. With Civil 3D 2010 I have to say that if the field crews do a good job coding there is very little cleanup to do in the office now. It takes a long time to get everything set up correctly but once you have it things are pretty simple.

Hi,

To expand on Matt's information.

The figure is effectively a collection of lines (arcs) joining points.
When you add it to a surface model, the elevation data will come from
the point elevations and if you added as a break line, then the lines of
the figure will be used to preclude surface triangles crossing the
figure. If a firgure is not set as a break line, then for all practical
purposes it only adds the point data to the surface model

When a figure is place in a drawing it has a display style. The style
may tell it to display as 2D or 3D. Either way it is still the same figure.
