Feature Line Offset causing Fatal Error

I am trying to create new feature lines by using the offset keyin and selecting existing feature lines. This was working at first, but now several of the lines are generating Fatal Error Unhandled Access Violation errors when I try to offset them.

it could have to do with site topology. are there parcel lines nearby?

put feature lines and grading on their own site.
