Fatal Error While Opening

I am getting a fatal error trying to open a drawing with a surface, 7 alignments, and 7 existing ground profiles. Trying to recover the drawing shows no errors but still gives me the fatal error before opening. I have tried to open the drawing in LDT as well as a stand alone version of 3D and get the same error every time. I had no crashes or errors while working in/dreating the file the day before, only when I came in this morning to open it. The drawing file is attached. Thanks for the help.

Opened fine in C3D2005 and Autocad 2005. If you have problems with it mabye
email me your email address and I can save it and send it back to you to see
if it will work.

I've spent the morning duplicating yesterday's efforts once step at a time, and I got the error to duplicate after I created the 6th of the 7 alignments. I went back and created the 7th and then the 6th alignment last, and now I'm not having any problems. So far as I can tell my problem has come from the order the alignments were created, not the alignments themselves. The profiles haven't caused any problems either.
Also, it only seems to give the error in my office. Everyone who has tried it outside has had no problems.

I tried that already with another friend who had no problem opening it. Even the file he sent back to me gave me the same problem.

Jas,

I can open the drawing in C3D 2005 SP1 & Civil3D 2006 just fine; I see seven
alignments CL-1 through 7, each with profiles. Ran audit and there were no
reported errors. Can anyone else confirm?

Please include the version of C3D (including service pack info) you are
using a part of your signature in each message. Thanks.

Sorry. Running C3D2005 SP 0. Dwg won't open in LDT2005 SP 1 either.

Hi Jason:

Ah! That might explain it...there were lots of fixes in Civil3D 2005 SP1.
Please install C3D 2005 SP1 and try opening the file and let us know how it
works out. Thanks.

I appreciate all of the help. It was in fact the service pack that was the problem. Now, will have I problems going forward with a drawing created without the service pack? Thanks in advance.

Jason:

I take it you mean that applying the service pack was the solution and not
the problem. You will not have compatibility issues with drawings created
prior to the service pack. As an extra precaution burn the pre-SP1 original
drawings on a CD for safekeeping and then work with a copy. That way you
can revert if necessary.

When you open the pre-SP1 drawings, run AUDIT to confirm that all is OK.

Gee, this sounds familiar.

Takes me back to Himanshu telling me to apply the Service Pack for 2004
version. Which seemed to improve things immensely.
