Fatal Error: Unhandled e0434f4dh Exception at 754fb9bch upon opening

C3d 2010 crashes with a fatal error when opening and gives the message Fatal Error: Unhandled e0434f4dh Exception at 754fb9bch. It had been working fine up until a few days ago. A solution to a previous post suggested resetting the user settings through the Registry Editor.  Any other suggestions before I attempt to do that?  Thanks.

Have you tried a Repair or Reinstall?

Allen: I was going to try a repair first however, when I loaded Disk 1 of 3 of Civil 3D 2010 yesterday, it wasn't giving me the option to repair. Is there another way to get to the repair option? Go to Control Panel, select Programs and Features, find AutoCAD Civil 3D [version] and double click on it. That should bring up the Maintenance screen (it looks like C3D is starting). There you'll find the option to Repair.

Allen: The repair is giving me errors. It cannot find several source files, so I quit out of it. This is strange, I have the Civil 3D Disk 1 of 3 loaded in the computer. When I launch Civil 3D 2010 from my desktop, I don't get the fatal error anymore. It appears as though the program has decided to start working again. What is that? I didn't even get through the repair. I'm going to remove Disk 1 of 3, and try launching Civil 3D again to see what it does. Mary Wohnrade, P.E. Allen: After removing Disk 1 of 3, I opened and closed the program several times without a problem. I shut the computer down, and launched Civil 3D several more times without incident. I don't know what I did to resolve the problem, but the program seems to be happy for now. Thanks. Mary Wohnrade, P.E. Mary,

Glad it's working for you. I'd guess that even though the repair was canceled, it was able to update the file or registry value that was causing you trouble.

Allen: I guess I got lucky, that's all it took. Now I just hope it stays that way. Thanks for all of your help. Mary Wohnrade, P.E. Wohnrade Civil Engineers, Inc. 11582 Colony Row Broomfield, Colorado 80021 Phone: 720-259-0965 Fax: 720-259-1519 Cell: 970-443-1142 Www.wcecivil.com

WCECIVIL,

I had this EXACT same issue with AutoCAD C3D 2010. I'm going to point you to another post about this, and look at post 8 of 14 in this thread. That is the solution I used, and never had a problem after. Now, I run 2012, but I had 2010 for a few months after this fix and this was the solution.

Again, read post # 8 on that thread.

I have a post on that thread just below it how to do it, if you're unfamiliar.

Hope this helps.
