Extrusion direction relative to UCS?

I have a polyline, when I list the polyline, the coordinates and elevations are right, but show me "Extrusion direction relative to UCS: X= -0.012 Y= 0.018 Z= 0.958". when I viewed the polylines in Properties, the coordinates are still right, but the Elevations are totally wrong. Could anyone know how to fix the problem? Can I remove "Extrusion direction ..."? I need these polylines to generate a surface in Civil 3D or LDD.

Thanks!

ToolPac's Object UCS Fix fill handle this. If this is a one time show,
send me the drawing to dotson at dotsoft.com and I'll fix it.

Steven hi,

You can try a workaround I used once with points that had the same problem:

Export the geometry to ArcView Shape file and import it back again. It
should be "clean" now.

hi Arad

Could you please give me more detail instruction about that. I try to export the drawing by using export ArcInfo coverage or *.e00 under map menu in LDD. but I always got the results with 0 elevation. Did i miss something?

thanks

Hi Steven,

Let me see if I remember correctly.

I had a file with a cloud of points that was not oriented to the WCS.

I created a UCS that was correct relative to the point cloud, and used
WBLOCK to export all the points to a new file.

This solved the orientation problem, but left the points with an extrusion.

The last step was to export all the points to a Shape file (ArcView, 3D).
Importing the Shape back to a clean file got me a fresh set of points that
were oriented correctly and with no extrusion.
Strange problem and a strange solution, but it worked for me. Try it.

Good luck,
Arad

hi Arad

Thanks for your help. I exported the all points to a Shape file (*.shp) and imported it to a new drawing, all the coordinates is correct but the elevations are converted to zero for all points. I don't know how to handle it.

My original problem is I have many breaklines (3dpoly) with various ucs directions. when I list them, the elevation is correct. Now I have to convert them to lines by exploring, then I utilized "drawing cleanup" and chose "delete original objects and creat new objects" to get rid of these extrusion direction. this is not a good way since I can not get the original 3dpoly back automatically.

thanks

Hi Steven,

I think you might want to check the settings of the EXPORT command.

See the attached picture.

Try this way.

work on a duplicate file to avoid any missing of datas. once you got the result you can save as with the original name.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Explode the polylines.

2. Type "FLATTEN" and enter

3. Now you can join with polyline edit.

I hope this will work.
