Extract Objects From Grading

Is there a tool that allows you to "extract objects" from a grading (C3D 2011)? Similar to the tool that extracts objects from a surface.  For example, I would like to create a 2D polyline from the daylight line of a grading.  I know you can explode, copy to the clipboard, undo, paste, flatten, etc.  And was wondering if there is a civil 3D command that does this for you.

Any help would be appreciated.

TIA

Hi,

I´m also looking for a way for "extract objects" from a grading (C3D 2011)?

Is it possible to create 3D Faces from the grading objects?

Best regards

Niclas

The way I would this;

1. Add the grading(s) to a surface.

2. Set the display of the surface to show triangles only.

3. Use the surface "Extract Objects" command to extract the triangles.  The triangles are then extracted as 3D faces.

...wish there were an "easy" button.

The Sincpac-C3D Extract2d command will extract the daylight line from a grading object, creating a flattened 2D polyline.  It even includes options for pruning the resulting polyline, so you can minimize the number of vertices in the resulting polyline.

The SincPac would definitely be easier, but you could also select the daylight line, right click and Copy to Site. Then explode the resulting copied featureline and then use the modify tool 3D to 2D polyline to convert it to a 2D line.

I had forgotten about the 3D to 2D poly command.  I'll add that as another way to skin the cat, so to speek.

Thanks for the tip !
