Export Points from DWG

Hello,

Could someone take a look at this. This is only a tiny portion of my drawing.

I am trying to export these points so I can create a new surface in a new drawing.

The points in question have coordinates and elevations but I can't seem to export them.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can do this?

thanks,

Those are not points, just blocks and text. You can still create a surface using the blocks for elevation. So if you want just some of these to be used in the surface, Wblock out the desired 'points', in the new drawing create a new surface, then under the surface definition select Drawing Objects, Blocks, then select the blocks.

Stephen,

You don't have any COGO Points in your drawing, just AutoCAD Points. There's a difference. You can turn them into exportable COGO Points thusly:

Stephen,

Oops, my way won't work. Follow Jeff's suggestion.

The file I attached is only a tiny tiny portion of the drawing. These autocad points are for a full town in which I need to extract. Would they be just as accurate as if I brought them in myself and would you suggest creating a surface this way or is there a way to import contours online to Civil 3D 2015.

Thanks,

I see no problem using the blocks to create the surface. I just mentioned Wblocking because you had said you only need a portion of a large number.

When I create a surface and add points to it, it tells there is no points found in the drawing.

Stephen,

"When I create a surface and add points to it, it tells there is no points found in the drawing."

Can you elaborate a little on this? How about a Screenshot of the problem. Does the problem occur before or after adding points to the surface?

Right, as I said in my first reply, there are no points. You have blocks at elevation, so use the Drawing Objects option to create the surface:
