Export point cloud to ASCII

I'm running C3D 2013 and want to export a point cloud to ASCII format.  When I select, then right click my point cloud, I don't get the option to "Export Point Cloud".  Any ideas?

To export point cloud data to LAS or ASCII formats

  1. Right click the point cloud or point cloud layer you want to export, then select Export Point Cloud. The Export Point Cloud dialog box appears.
  2. Select the file type to which you want to export your point cloud data in the File of Type field.
  3. Specify a file name and save location.
  4. Click Save.

Hi Nick,

In order to export Point Cloud, you may want to go to Points in the Menu bar | Import/Export Points | Export Points | Select the format | Provide the destination directory | Click OK

http://screencast.com/t/YNwv2IagC and http://screencast.com/t/akDCOQTx

If you do not have the Menu bar shown, type in _AeccExportPoints in the command window and press Enter key.

Thanks,

That does not work.  My point cloud data is an LAS file.  I wish to convert it to a csv or txt file.  Any ideas?

Maybe, sir.

Please upload that .LAS on a file sharing service e.g. http://ge.tt - we'll try a couple of techniques and let you know what it's all about.

If you need it quick you can download RECAP http://www.autodesk.com/products/recap/get-started

You can import the LAS file and export a PTS file.

Test the attachment: is it what you're after?

More or less.  I will need to filter the LAS file before I export.  I only need bare earth and water classification points.  How did you perform the export?

I used the opensource Qgis, sir, whilst I fear there's no Autodesk software able to classify a point cloud (hoping I'm wrong...)
