While Global Mapper is a very good product, it doesn't run inside Civil3D and doesn't handle AECC_ALIGNMENTS so at best it's another hoop to jump through. Most people won't want to open a Civil3D drawing, export to AutoCAD, open that, save as DXF, open that in GM and export to KML, open GE and import the KML, etc.
