Elevations on feature lines

Hi All,

Is there a way to add elevation labels at any position on a feature line without having to create a surface?

Yes, that is exactly it as long as the elevations update when the feature line does.

I wasn't too sure if it would because it was under the general line instead of feature line.

I just need to look up how to do an expression.

Thank you and what happened to the accept as solution button?

One bummer I did find is that if you try to move the label it will not update the elevation.

That's strange. I have a General Note Label for Elevation and when I move or copy it, it will update. The bummer I see is that they don't automatically update if you edit the Featureline. You have to remember to move the label to the new elevation.

Did you look at the link I posted earlier? It has instructions on how to create and use expressions. http://au.autodesk.com/?nd=class&session_id=5143

This site tells you how to customize a label style so you can label elevations at any position on the feature line.

Inserting elevation points on a feature creates new segments. Thus the labels will move to the new start and end points when an elevation point is added.

I draw a featureline. I learned that from John M. This is a file on creating the style I posted in the thread that Bill linked to. It should still work but I haven't used it lately.

Edit. Looks like I went too far back in the old post and answered a question from long ago. One of the dangers of necro-posting.
