Duplicate points mystery

I'm seeing duplicate point numbers in this drawing...I've never seen this in Civil 3D before.

Can anyone confirm and/or explain this?

I tried purging, auditing, recovering, restarting, civil 3D 2012, overkill command (doesn't work on cogo points) and I seem to get the same result all around. Too bad I can't check the points down into the database!  (tip of the hat to LDD)

An audit in 2012 kills all the duplicate points (both duplicates, so none exist where 2 once lived). So what I did was use the Export Points to a text file (PNEZD), erase the points, audit, then import the points and all was well.

I have no idea how the point database got messed up like that, I don't recall seeing it before.
