I posted about this a few months ago and never found a resolution but now I couldn't find the post I made to follow up. I have just been bit by this again....working along in C3D2012 SP3, make a number of changes to sheets in a sheet set, save each one, Publish in background, get an error saying to try again not using the background plot option, do so, plots fine but get a warning when opening one of the sheets I had just edited 15 minutes earlier that it has 2 errors and should be recovered. I responded No to cancel the open so the Publish routine could finish, a warning comes up saying the drawing was last saved in a newer version of C3D and all C3D commands would be disabled, publish completes. I close C3D2012, restart it and try to open that drawing, same deal, so I recover, finds 2 errors deletes one object, still can't use C3D commands. Rename backup from an hour earlier, open it, same errors!. Now this is a drawing I worked on without issue before running Publish. I cannot move this project to a newer version, and I know that I did not open this drawing in any version other than 2012.
What the heck is going on to where it THINKS it was??? Any way to recover this so I can continue to work on it in 2012? I have a suspicion that when I tried to use the background plotting it used a newer version of the C3DAPI, except that it failed too quickly when I tried that so I don't think it ever made it that far in the queue.

Well that went quickly. I used Recover on the drawing, once open QuickSelect to get Acad_Proxy_Entity, 1 found, List:
Command: _.QSELECT
1 item(s) selected.
Command: LI
LIST 1 found
ACAD_PROXY_ENTITY Layer: "C-PROP-TABL"
Space: Model space
Handle = 7155
DXF name: AECC_PARCEL_SEGMENT_TABLE
Class name: AeccDbParcelSegmentTable
Application name: AeccLand90
Product Desc: AutoCAD Civil 3D
Company: Autodesk,Inc.
WEB Address: www.autodesk.com
Erase, P. Save Close, Open, and opens as it should, less the 2 tables it once had (one for lines, another for curves). So one must've been the error that Recover fixed and the other was the one I was able to delete.
I do believe I will remember this trick the next time! Thanks again, Jay!
I just stumbled across this post. I am having the same issue with several drawings I am working with. The solution sounds simple but... when I do the _qselect in the drawing I don't have the object type, Acad_Proxy_Entity, any ideas why this object type is not available? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What version / service pack are you using?
Chris,
Take one ofthese drawings which are giving you trouble, open it in Notepad (yes Notepad), be sure to change the file type filter to *.* all files.
What is the DWG version reported on the upper left of file? It will be ACXXXX.
Interesting, that's the correct format for 2012 version.
Are these files all your own files which have been working fine up until now and haven't been opened at all with a newer version?
If you can, post one of the drawings here for someone to take a look.
This is interesting:
Auditing Entities Pass 1
Pass 1 1000 objects auditedAeccDbRootSettingsNode(A9D3) was repaired.
Pass 1 1500 objects audited
Auditing Entities Pass 2
Pass 2 1000 objects auditedAeccDbRootSettingsNode(A9D3) was repaired.
Pass 2 1500 objects audited
Auditing Blocks
14 Blocks audited
Total errors found 2 fixed 2
These errors keep coming back after every save and there are a few things I can't delete from this drawing no matter what I do.
I'm able to open it in 2014 but after it goes through upgrading old drawing there's only one layer (G-ANNO-Text125) and nothing visible in the dwg.
I would talk to the source of these dwg's find out what version they were on & see if they can resend the dwg's.
Well. Then if it's do to an object in the drawing it can't be diagnosed from an empty one. Have you tried to Recover the drawing or insert it into an new drawing created from your template?

Tried that here but obviously only one layer & no objects.
I just tried the copy and paste into our template and this seems to have worked. I suppose this could be a solution but I was hoping for a more efficient way to do this.
Thanks for the suggestions.

These errors appear to be in all the drawings that I'm having issues with:
Pass 1 2100 objects auditedAeccDbRootSettingsNode(F4B8) was repaired.
Pass 1 3100 objects audited
Auditing Entities Pass 2
Pass 2 2100 objects auditedAeccDbRootSettingsNode(F4B8) was repaired.
Pass 2 3100 objects audited
Auditing Blocks
78 Blocks audited
Total errors found 2 fixed 2
Now if I could just figure out what it means. 🙂
