Drawing cannot locate the project

I have a set of files that whenever I open them or switch back and forth between open files I get the message "Drawing cannot locate the project (Hazel Road-9D5613A1-1312-4090-9D05-BAC692EA39ED)".

I think the project information was deleted for this and I just want to disassociate all files from it.  Is that possible?

Pat

Hi Pat,

Yes. Right-click on Data Shortcuts node and choose Associate Project to Current Drawing and set it to <none>.

Memo to the programming team.... change the error message to include the solution, instead of some mysterious GUID string that does not mean anything to us normal users. Smiley Wink

I'm embarrassed to admit that I don't know what the data shortcuts node is.  How do you open it?

No problem. Just to into Prospector tab in Civil 3D, right-click on Data Shortcuts and choose Associate Project to Current Drawing. Then you will see the dialog from that image.

I found this discussion thread and would like to add to it.  I have been having the same problem.  Although when I change the associate project to none and save, it never stays.  It reverts back to a project that was set unknowingly.  Any hints on how to keep it to stay on <none>.

Thanks so much

Deb

Maybe start a new drawing from your current Civil 3D stock templates. Add your styles to that file, make sure your settings are setup properly. Do the suggested to your Data Shortcuts settings. Save this as your new template, and hopefully this will eliminate this for you. Good Luck.

I've found old files or templates can bring issues like this back. It's not a big deal but, it is if your template has this issue.

I have been having a similar problem but the thing is my program will crash.  I try to open up a drawing and it goes through the process of loading and I can see the drawing but in the command strip it says: "Press ENTER to continue: Drawing cannot locate the project (shortcute-89853023-A86F4ab0-9125-7860c4d4e471)" I try to push enter but nothing really happens.  I can't edit the drawing I can only zoom in and out and if i click anything related to autocad it says it is not responding then the only thing I can do is close and restart.  What can I do to fix this?
