does civil 3d have a best-fit coordinate transform option in survey?

i may have asked this before,

my survey department has a DOS program from 1995 called Transform from GeoSoft.

it does not work well or at all in win 7 even with the XP mode virtual machine.

the program does a least square analysis with the ability to add or remove known points from the process, then outputs an adjusted file.

can the survey tab/database do this? if so how.

he is the only one left on XP32 and he is very particular

all the best and any information would help.

The Survey Database can perform a least-squares adjustment on traverses... Then it can recalculate any sideshots taken from the control points, assuming you import your survey data via a FBK file or equivalent (e.g., something that transfers the instrument's observations to C3D, and not a reduced set of coordinates).

Not sure if that's what you mean...

i think we tried that route once?!
i will revisit it.

anyone know of a good walkthrough?

while i'm proud of them for adopting civil 3d , their close mindedness is killing me. still doing asc files, no in field line work coding and a crew chief who is (sigh)

is anyone still using q-legal also or have you adjusted reports to output correctly Edited by: daniellench on Mar 9, 2010 1:40 PM

We still use Q-Legal. It does our deeds very well, very fast.
