DITCH ASSEMBLY - Profile/Offset restrictions

Okay Everyone, i need your help on this...

First off, i'm using C3D 2011

I need to create a ditch assembly that will cut a ditch that follows a ditch profile that is 1m below CL profile (already created, and will meet my roadway EP and my ROW at existing grade.

So to clarify...  my restriction points are the EP, CL of ditch at ditch profile elevation, and ROW limit at existing grade...  foreslope and backslope do not have to maintain a minimum standard.

Any help would be appreciated.

Is this assembly attached to the road design, or is it a separate corridor which must daylight to the EP and the RoW?

A picture is worth a thousand words in this case.

I have attached a pic to represent what i am referring to...   the key points are:

1)  Must tie into the edge of roadway

2)  Must follow new ditch profile

3)  Must meet property line at existing ground

4)  Horizontal Dimensions shown are common throughout the length of the project

5)  Vertical dimensions will vary depending on the profile

To answer the previous question... I have a new roadway assembly designed...  this ditch assembly would be attached.

I think you could do this with 2 Generic links:

1. Link Offset And Elevation to tie from the EOP to the ditch center line and profile.

2. Link Offset On Surface to tie from the bottom of the ditch to the ROW at the surface.

If those doen't produce the results you need, if you're on subscription look at the Subassembly Composer. That should allow you some more options.

Peter,

Can you advise how you tie the ditch profile to the elevation?  it will allow me to enter an elevation manually, but not tie it to a profile...  am i missing something?

Yes you are. You have to set a slope of elevation target within the corridor properties. Have a look in help about targets. Hint: there's a big button in the ribbon when you select the corridor called edit targets.

Did you set the ditch profile as the elevation target for the first link in the Corridor Properties dialog? This needs to be set at the corridor level.
