Is there a way to display the current layer state on the screen while drawing, i.e., as a visible notation, perhaps somewhere in the ribbon?
Because my drawings must be shown in many scales each, I use many layer states in each drawing and switch between them frequently. Sometimes I forget which state I last set, and must then break to enter the Layer States Manager and poke around, a mild irritant that I could do without if possible.
Many thanks.
Any reason you can't use annotation scale? That would solve your problem and always keep all your text in sync (you don't have to remember every layer a piece of text shows up).
McL,
How about sticking LAYERSTATE in the Quick Access Menu?

If someone knows a variable that contains the current layer state. You could use MODEMACRO to display it on the status bar.

Allen Jessup seems closest to solving my query, but no joy yet. I shall continue to forget my current layer state and then go to the Layer States Manager to find out what I'm really doing.
Cheers,
McL.
Along the lines of daves post.
I was going to suggest putting the layer state combobox on the QAT, but I gave it a try myself and it will not go onto the QAT. Perhaps a bug?
You can add the layer state combobox to a ribbon panel. It is called the layer state gallery in the CUI editor.
See the attached picture.
