Dear Abby,
I create surfaces from a variety of components usually starting with a corridor surface. I also use data referencing on all projects. When I open my drawing in AutoCAD, the corridor part of my surface disappears. If the drawing is saved (as is required before checking back into Vault) the data reference is updated minus the corridor surface.
This only recently started. I can repeat the error on multiple drawings and on multiple machines. I don't have a clue where to go on this one and need help.
Signed,
Riddle Me This
To clarify, is this a question regarding opening these files in Vanilla Autocad and not with Civil 3D?
Do you have the AutoCAD Civil 3D Object Enabler installed on your vanilla AutoCAD?
I have no experience with Vault but have you done a test by outside the Vault environment with a similar project data scenario to determine if Vault plays any part in the problem?
Yes, I did, but the error occurs independent of Vault operations. I only mentioned Vault in relation to the SAVE command updating the data reference to my now incomplete surface.
A couple things to try.
1. Verify Corridor is set to "Rebuild Automatic" in source dwg.
2. If Corridor is being attached as an Xref, try using "attachment" type.
What version of C3D was used to create the data? What version of Acad is being used to open the file(s)?
Can you post the dwg file?

I'm using 2014 for both.
Attached is a fresh drawing with two data references: EG LIDAR and FG DESIGN. The access road on the east side of the site was modeled with a corridor. Yesterday that portion of the surface disappeared when opened in AutoCAD. Today the entire FG DESIGN surface disappears.
To be able to tell you anything, I'll need the source file too.

Sorry for the delay. I had to remove some fluff to make the drawing fit.
