Design Profile from Surface for LandXML with profile element data

I have a 3rd party program from the Fed that I need to use to perform a safety analysis on an existing profile. The Fed program will only read LandXML profiles that have design elements in them (ie: data with grades, lengths, VC, sta, elev). Civil 3d will only LandXML export a surface profile as sta/elev data. The Fed program will not read LandXML surface profiles with just sta/elev data.

Does Civil 3D 2009 have a tool to make a design profile from a surface?

I think you will have to spend some time with the surface profile and
the drafting tools to "design" the existing surface.

Look at the Lines/Curves - Best Fit Entities for guidance.

If I recall the Civil 3d webcasts from a few years ago, Peter Funk did
demonstrate how to do this.

So I have to spend time tracing 5 miles of existing profile when the data already existing in Civil3D?

SincPacC3D has a command to convert EG profiles to FG
profiles. It appears that the converted profile does create the LandXML file as
you'd like.

Did you ever find out if Civil 3D could create a design profile from the existing ground shots?

I have the same type of situation and was wondering if it can be done.
