Description Keys Settings

For some reason in my base template for field work the

"Diasble Description Keys" option in Points  Creation is set to "true"

How can make this default to "False" in my template.

I've tried changing it and then saving the template again but it reverts to true

all of the time. This is irratiting because I have

to select my points and do applydesckeys whenever I import points.

Thanks,

Bo

Open the DWT file, go to the Settings tab of Toolspace, expand Points, expand Commands, dbl click CreatePoints, change the setting here. If you were changing setting under the PointCreation dialog, those settings are normally only used during the tie that dialog is open.

If this isn' working, then you'd better verify that the correct dwt is being used for starting new drawings.

Hi, @Jeff_M

I was looking for an answer for ApplyDescKeys and found you, as usual, answering a question.

Might you know why my "blue spruce 6"" is not reacting to a *spruce* DescKey?

Descriptions Keys can't use spaces. You can do BSPRUCE 6

@rl_jackson

To be clearer...

The raw and full description is "blue spruce 6"

The DescKey is "*spruce*"

And I have checked to see that the point style and point label style and block definition are all in the drawing.

You cannot have "blue spruce" as the key, John, as it has a space. It can be "blue_spruce". The first part of the RawDescription is the key to be matched, everything else, separated by spaces, are parameters.

The raw description, and the full description are two completely different things. the raw description is what the crew provides for the description (this data is case sensitive). if you want a description key to spit out Blue Spruce 6" you'll need a truncated raw description line BSPURCE 6, then in the Full Description you use parameters to establish the 6" so the code BSPRUCE* and the full description Blue Spruce $1" with make the displayed description Blue Spruce 6".

Note: $0 is BSPRUCE, $1 is 6, See below

This should give you some ideas on the use of parameters.

Thanks, @Jeff_M
I used to know that years ago, even used to teach it.
Boy, that's embarrassing.
