Deployment of Civil 3d

Hi everyone. Our company has just bought a copy of civil 3d 2007 and I am supposed to install it on 2 computers. We purchased a network version that is set up on the server and deployed to the 2 computers. I have gone through the steps to do this, such as installing and configuring the network license manager, installing the network deployment wizard and creating the deployment image. I have all of that done, but I'm really confused as to how I am supposed to install the program on the clients computer. Can someone please walk me through this last step.

When you do a network install, you must install the Deployment Wizard. Use
this application to make an administrative installation image for the
clients. Store these images on the server ( I have one folder named "Client"
in that folder I have a folder for the Civil 3D image, one for LDT, Civil
Design, etc.). Go to the clients, browse to the image & run the msi file
(you will supply the msi name when setting up the image with the Deployment
Wizard).

When you run this msi file do I run it from the server or go to my pc and run it from there?

Starting with 2007, the deployment wizard can be launched directly from the
CD. This is important if you already have the 2006 deployment wizard
installed. You can't have multiple versions of the deployment wizard
installed & each version of Acad/Civil 3D requires a different version of
the deployment wizard.

That didn't answer my questiong. I already have the deployment wizard installed. I'm at the last step now. I need to know how to install civil 3d on the individual computers in my office. Do I install it through the server of throught the individuals pc.

Go to the PC you need to install the program and run the MSI there. IF you were to run the MSI from the server, you would be installing the program on the server.

Hope this helps!

Hello Jon!! Good point. I was the only one in the office with 2006 installed
& I removed all of those apps prior to installing 2007.

Robert, I think Jon was just trying to give you a heads-up in case you had
2006 apps installed.

After you create a deployment with the deployment wizard, you have to run
the deployment on each individual computer.

I am setup to install 07 similar to the data structure you have.
Can one msi file call the other?

Example,
I want to install C3D, and C3D-LDTcompanion at the same time.

Would putting the second msi in the "other files to install" work?

Something strange is happening!!! Every time I go and install C3d 2007 on my computer it gets so far through it and then stops and the bars on the install dialog box start going backwards and then disappear. see attached.

That means it ran into a problem. Double-click on that AdminImage folder
and double-click on the log folder, open up the log file and maybe it will
tell you what that problem is.
