DEM surface

I connected to a DEM raster surface and applied stylization to it and it looks good, from the top. I am not using MAP 3D and want to look at it in 3D (i.e. SW Isometric) When I change my view then I get the 3D crosshairs but the raster remains at a top view. I have found the geospatial workstation but I do not have the MAP 3D status bar that is referred to in the help file which has 2D and 3D icons, vertical exaggeration, etc. Any help on this would be appreciated. TIA.
