Delta Angle Expression DMS

Can anyone else get 2012 to make an expression for curve delta angles come in DMS and not decimal degrees?  Why do I need this?  Well C3D does not have a delta angle label for curve pipe and our client requires it on the drawings.

You can create an expression in the Pipe Labels that subtracts Pipe Start Direction from Pipe End Direction, call that Pipe Delta. When you place it in the label style just be sure to set the format to DMS.

Does the expression also have to specify that it's output is an angle also?  I think that if it's a Double value then you cannot use the DMS options for labelling.

Yes, you need to correctly identify the output type.

In 2012 it does not work.  I have tried applying an expression using the angle variable to everything you can in 2012.  It works in 2011, just tried it.  Won't work in 2012.

I will correct myself here because I geuss I was wrong.  Just general curve labeling you can apply it.  Won't apply in pipe and alignments, you wouldn't need it in an alignment anyway but does not apply to a pipe at all.

Hello Kcobabe,

Yes, you can label pipes with delta angle. Per my previous post, you need to create an expression. See files 01 and 02.

Then you use that expression as part of the pipe label style. See file 03 and 04.

File 05 shows that it works.

Files 04 and 05 fill have to be added in a separate reply as this system only allows us to attached three files at a time.

Best regards,

Tim

Try using it and you will see you only get a decimal degree and not DMS even though you have selected the ouput on the label to read DMS.

You post a pick of that working in 2012 I will eat my words and find out what in my program is broken, but it won't.

Here's some jpgs of what the end result is.  Top # is the Delta label.

Sorry for the delay in posting these last two files, I had an appointment. Anyway, someone said something about eating your words? Munch munch.

Actually I'm not eating my words.  I was correct.  C3D 2012 (no service pack) cannot pull the DMS angle.  C3D 2012 SP1 has no problem with it.  Smiley Happy
