Delete unwanted layers that come with a new drawing?

Hi Everyone,

I recieved a dwg file from my surveyor with a bunch of layers that come with creating a new drawing in Civil 3d.  How do I delete these layers that are not being used?  I've tried purging but that doesn't work.

Help!!!

J

The layers are probably tied the hundreds of styles nested within the drawing. As far as I'm aware there is no way to delete layers associated with a style without first deleting the style.

I feel your pain, our main template has so many useless layers that are never used with no easy way to remove them.

LAYDEL. Use it carefully.

I agree.  Our company templates have so many 'useless' layers removed that I can't generate a profile view when I need one.

After LaYDEL, use the RECOVER command on the file to fix the styles that will have been affetced by deleting the layers.
