CVL3D PT NUMBERING

Can someone please tell me the simplest way to make the correct settings to control what number points will start numbering when creating manual points. I read throught the civil 3d help screens and I'm still confused. At present, points want to default to the lowest point number available. I have been going back into the point list and renumbering the points to the correct series number. This takes a little while because each point numbering edit has to be accepted for each point. For instance, I wanted to manual create some points numbered between 3000-3999, starting with 3000. Points were created with numbers, 1,2,3, etc. Please help. Dont worry about hurting my feelings. I'm one of those guys that are still wondering how something like starting a numbering sequence in LDD was so simple and now complex in Civil3d.

Have you considered using Names, instead, for your tracking purposes? (I
don't do an awful lot with points, but to the extent I do, I find using the
Name field in a manner you are describing is actually much easier for me.
Additionally, this gives me alpha-numeric capabilities, giving me even
better/easier control.)

(.......sorry I can't answer your actual question. I've found the above to
make the numbers irrelevant.....I leave those to C3D's use.)

Just change the Next Point Number property. See attached pic. If this
property is locked, then the only place to set this is under
Toolspace->Settings->Point->Commands->CreatePoints->Point Identity
