none of the mainstream Autodesk products are officially supported on windows 8. I'd doubt very much if any backwards compatibility will be maintained although it'd be a safe bet that future versions will be windows 8 compatible.

Try a Google search. You are not the first to attempt to use C3D in Win 8. You my find a way to get it working.

Just as an FYI, a local client was having the same issue. We had him uninstall Civil 3D and then re-install using Windows 7 Compatibility Mode. Now he's up and running and has reported no crashing.

Best regards,

whilst it is possible to run under windows 8 according to various posts on discussion forums do not expect any help from Autodesk if you need to troubleshoot problems.

C3D 2012 & 2013 is not stable on Win8. Most report C3D 2013 with SP1 works well.

I am running it on Windows 8, WITHOUT SP1 and it works fine.  However, it is not supported.
