cut/fill hatching

i need to show the areas of cut and fill in a drawing. i've got the two surfaces and i can find the volumes of cut and fill but i need to be able to show them in the drawing. any suggestions?

Elevation analysis (......or contour analysis.........or user defined
contour, 0 being the dividing line) of a TIN volume surface.

A more precise answer would require knowing exactly what you want to do with
the info.

thanks. i've got a site that i need to hatch the areas of cut & fill for a wetland permit. i've got my existing surface and my proposed surface and a volume surface. i figured out the user defined contour but i didn't know if there was a way to hatch the fill areas and cut areas.

Look into elevation analysis, noting that elevation analysis display must be
turned on in the style and that the actual ranges must be applied within the
surface properties (analysis tab).

that's almost exactly it. we don't do our drawings in color though. is there a way to do cross hatching instead of solid?

The options are for 2D solid, 3D Face, Solid Hatch, or Mesh. I'd have
to check around for a hack to enable you to use a regular cross hatch.

thanks for the input. i saw that option but i think i can make do with the solids or with the user defined contour. i appreciate the help.

Couldn't you just make a parcel out of it and hatch the parcel (put it on a
new site firrst)? You have the luxury of using whatever hatch pattern you
want then. Its just a matter of turning on the hatch.
