Curve Through More Than 3 Points

I've drawn a 3D Polyline through these points, then converted it to a Feature Line so I can use it as a Breakline in my Surface.

what I'd like is a smooth curve. A Spline Fit can't be converted to a Feature Line. A 2D Polyline uses the first point for its elevation. A 3D Polyline doesn't have any curve options. Create Feature Line is awkwardly limited to a 3-point curve. What's the best way to make a Curved Feature Line?

Allen,

I just tried your suggestion. Unless I'm not seeing something, it won't do for an irregular curve:

I forgot to mention to use the Points option. But with that may points you're probably better off using one of the other solutions.

Joe,

3DPolyline >> Create Feature Line From Objects >> Edit Geometry >> Smooth.

That seems to work best.

John,

I'm not a big fan of the Survey Database. It seems like a needless complication, and anything "brought in" from the Database seems temporary and adds a layer of complexity.

You need the OC on all the TBC points that you need to be curved.

Dave with the SDB you would be done with that surface on import. I have may stuff set up to do a surface automatically on import then I just select the figure from the DB and add to surface. Wham! the surface is done.

Allen,

The Points Option on FITCURVEFEATURE asks for a Start and End, just like Options. Options has some interesting settings that I'll play with and see if I can discover understanding:

RL,

"You need the OC on all the TBC points that you need to be curved."

Thank you. That is a subtle distinction I didn't know about.

OK Dave. I did a few experiments and see what you're saying. Smooth is much better. But the field coding you're working on seems better still. I'm not up on Civil 3D codling because we've been using 3rd party software to process our field work since before Autodesk offered that option.
