Creation of grid surface from .xyz?

Is it possible to create a grid surface .xyz files? dx and dy are constant. I know how to create tin surface, but it is difficult to manage very large areas of 150 sqrkm or more.
Is it possible to convert tin surface to grid surface? I've tried to convert .xyz to .dem with microdem, but civil 3d says: Error building grid surface.

I am pretty sure that the grid surfaces have a size limit. I would bet you
hit that with 150 KM^2.

You could try to break up the surface into smaller sections.

We need so big landscape for road studies and different variations. We did break our surface in 12 smaller surfaces, but is still very large for use in civil 3D.
The points are turned off, but are still in background and that is problem of mem usage and file size. We made a new surface with RDV triangles and copied it into a new empty file and it is only 1/4 of original filesize. Detail loss is very small.
As said in some topic before, we can not afford to have points in larger distance than 12.5m, because every small river or rocks are in our consideration.

You can also try to land xml out the surfaces & import them into a new dwg.
