Creating Surface from 3d faces

I'm creating a surface by selecting 3D faces generated in a 3rd party pacakge (Civilcad), exported to a dwg then imported to my C3D project. Unfortunately C3D seems to be ignoring many triangles.

Attached screen shoot shows imported triangles (in green) with C3D traingles (in grey).

Any ideas why this may be occuring?

By default Civil3D only uses the points at the vertices of the 3d faces.  If you want to maintain the edges you need to check that option when adding data to the surface.

Many thanks. I knew it was a simple step I was missing. I'm only a novice with C3D. I'll probably have a million other dramas in coming weeks.
