Creating Pressure Pipe Content Problem - Please help

I’m using civil 3D 2015, and when I try to create pressure pipe content I run into problems.

Let me explain how I have been going about it.

  1. I created a 3D solid of the filling (in this case and Isolating Valve)
  2. I drew a line from the centre valve connection point on one side to the centre valve connection point on the other side.
  3. I inserted the connection point to the end point of the drawn line and indicated the direction.
  4. I did this again for the other end.
  5. I then typed in “publishpartcontent”
  6. I picked the solid, then the line.
  7. Selected “mm”
  8. Selected “valve”
  9. I received the following error

Command: PUBLISHPARTCONTENT
Select a solid for publishing
:
Select a centerline ENTITY that represents the previously selected solid.
:
Specify the Measuring Unit [Inches/Millimeters] <Inches>: M

Specify the Part Type [Cap/COupling/CRoss/Elbow/Hydrant/Plug/PUmp/Reducer/Tee/Valve/Wye] <Elbow>: V
_VSCURRENT _G _zoom e _pngout C:\Users\Rob\AppData\Local\Temp\cb446570-83ad-4573-8fb3-c437ebe330aa\tempfile.png _ALL
Error during Publish: eWasErased

Please, where am I going wrong or what am I doing wrong?

All your help is much appreciated

Rob

I'm not sure but I think the issue has to do with this,

Select a centerline ENTITY that represents the previously selected solid

Does the line extend past or fall shor of the solid's outer faces? Does the solid have a centerline you can select?

The line is from the centre if the pipe (at the end of the solid) to the centre of the other end of the pipe (end of solid) - red lines,

I have attached a screen shot, may this explains it better.

Thanks for the help, much appreciated.

Did you create the connection point correctly?

This is the tutorial I have used with success.

I think your coordinate system may be messing this up.

Go into world coordinates using the plan command. Then issue the orbit command to get a 3d view in world coords. Then define the part.

Check that tutorial. I do not believe two connection points are allowed.

Thanks for the help, as it turns out there was nothing wrong with the content. The tutorial on youtube also had the error.

I could not insert the content into the Content Catalog Editor on my computer, it just crashed. I assumed I had done something wrong in making the content. The Content Catalog Editor on my computer has a problem.

I did manage to insert all the content I have made on another computer and every thing is working as it should.

Thanks again, all the help is appreciated.

Glad you got it worked out. I have not used these tools in over a year but I knew I was able to create the parts I needed with that tutorial. I forgot he had the same issue. 😮
