Creating mask boundaries

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to create multiple mask boundaries in a surface? The surface (from Lidar)is then Data shortcut into the survey file where field shots were used to create 6 small surfaces all over the general area. The end goal is to ultimately merge the surfaces by pasting, but the project manager wants to see a 1' ring of "NO Contours around the survey areas that differentiate them from the lidar surface.

Thanks anyone!

By the way,  I have tried everything i know how already and am not quite sure of the difference between the mask and the hide boundary option.

I think it's one mask/srf.

Start with an overall boundary set to Hide. Then use multiple interior Show boundaries to depict what you need.
