Creating an intersection

Hi,

Can someone help me on creating an intersection of two roads. I have created corridor using alignments, profiles and assemblies. then i have created the intersection. However, i find it quite strange. Maybe it's becuase of the assemblies. Also the profiles do not show the intersecting point lable. I am attaching the file herewith. I want to know the step by step procedure of creating intersections so that the road profiles changes when changes are made to one of them.

thanks in advance.

You should really let us know which version of Civil 3D you are using. Prior to the version containing the intersection wizard, there was no way to lock profiles together without the aid of third party software.

Hi,

It's civilcad 2010 trial version. Can lock the profiles in it.

Kavi.

Yes, in Civil 3D 2010, you can create an intersection object using the intersection wizard. The intersection object locks the profiles together - but that is the only way to do so. Manually creating an intersection does not allow for locking the profiles.

Hi,

Can anyone help me with the enclosed drawing. For example how to create an intersection at Road 1 and road 4 junction. I have done it, but the road profile for road 4 which is locked to road 1, changes considerably from what i had drawn. Is it because of the assemblies? Can someone show me the procedure. I have done the tutorials, but it doesnt work with my dwg. Maybe i am missing something out.

Thanks,

Kavi.

Hi Bill,

Yes, the dwg is attached in my original query. Please see why i'm not getting the intersection right.

thanks and regards,

Kavi.

One thing I noticed if you increase your frequency for the intersection of Road 1 and 4 you will notice that your curb return is targeting the Road 1 profile instead of the ETW.  Or you need to modify your assembly fo eliminate the pavement on the curb return side.  Refer to attached image.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the reply. Will try it and revert back.

Btw i am trying to build a surface again and create contours for another site. Doing same procedure you explained before, but it's not working this time. Enclosing drawing herewith, please kindly advise. I have converted units to m, created surface, but when selecting block for points, it does not select.

Thanks and regards,

Kavi.
