Create geotiff from Civil 3D?

Before I invest the $2000 for a seat of Raster Design, can someone please
verify that Civil 3D/LDT/Map does not have the native ability to create
georeferenced TIFF files?

Just to clarify, do you mean does C3D have the ability to write the TIFF file to disk with georeferencing info file or do you mean does it have the ability to insert a tiff with a world file and have it georeferenced inside your drawing. C3D/Map will do the latter, but not the former. Raster Design must be used in order to save the tiff and coord info.

By the way, in case you haven't thought of it, if you want multiple users to have access to Raster Design, you should buy a network version. It can run on top of standalone AutoCAD apps if your base product is not network version.

Yes, that's exactly what I meant. We always use map to insert geo
referenced TIFF files, but now we also need the ability to write a new
geotiff which includes our vector information. We're definitely going to
buy a single network seat or rasterdesign until we need more. Thanks for
your feedback.
